Marvelous Molecules - The Secret of Life

New York Hall of Science
Corona, NY
Opened October 1999

NSF was the major funder of this project, which interprets ‘shared’ chemistry – the chemical reactions that are the basis for all life and living organisms, from Escherichia coli to elephants to roses. The story we developed is a basic one: chemical processes make biological life possible. The exhibit introduces and explains the chemistry, demonstrates the biomechanical processes and indicates the ramifications of each for the living world.

JKA graphic designer Sandra Liu, who has a degree in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry and extensive experience as an exhibit developer, was the primary content developer for the exhibit, in close collaboration with the staff of the New York Hall of Science, Dr. Martin Weiss, Manager of Biology at the Hall and with several exhibit evaluators.
